Mixed fortunes for some vs The Saints but convincing against Collingham.

Scotton played host to Beckwithshaw last Saturday in their latest Nidderdale League fixtures.

At U11s Red squad put in a strong performance to hit their stride and secure a convincing league win, with many of the squad putting in star performances, including a stunning hatrick from George Dooley. This was followed by an equally impressive performance in the following friendly match.

It was a different story for for Scotton's under 9's. The boys seemed still half asleep and against a very strong Beckwithshaw team were also second best. Lorcan Gallagher did score a terrific consolation goal. In the second game the boys finally woke up and played much better, but Beckwithshaw had the momentum and won the second game too.

Scotton under 7's played Beckwithshaw and with a high turnout split into two squads this weekend to give everyone a chance to play two full games. On the nearside, Scotton took a little while to get into their stride, with Beckwithshaw running out easy winners in game 1. Game 2 saw Scotton finally start to play and tackle, a brilliant goals from Lewis Francis and Jack Sherwin (his first for the club) saw the team only just fall short.

On the far pitch, a similar story in Game 1 saw Scotton play some good football but just fail to compose themselves enough to score. Game 2 however showed all the training was worth while, and after falling one behind early on, two great finishes from Jack Armitage saw Scotton hold on to secure a well deserved 2-1 win.

Scotton U11 Black squad, completed a very impressive win against Collingham, in a very entertaining game, finishing 2 - 1 winners, with goals from Jake Hargraves and Giovanni Passerello and a match winning goal keeper performance from Jake Jones. In the return Friendly game, Scotton again ran out 4 - 3 winners and completed a fantastic display.

U7's 4/10/08

In icy conditions, Scotton took our under 7 ( a mixture of reception, Yr1
and Yr 2's) to play Tockwiths Yr2 U7's. Against a bitter wind, Tockwith took
control of the first match in the first half. The second half, Scotton
showed more determination and skill and were unlucky not to score with a
number of break aways. Man of the first match wet to one of the clubs very
youngest members, Jonathan Haase. The second game saw the weather and our
opponants age-difference take it's toll a little on our young ones. But a
brilliant display in goal from Ben Haase and brave defending from Man of the
(second) Match Sam Arditto saw the game remain competitive.

U11's Village League

In their second Nidderdale league match this season, Scotton Scorchers U11,
playing a Tockwith side that the previous week had put 10 past their
opposition, put on a great display to earn a convincing and deserved 3 - 1
win.
The following friendly was a more even affair with Tockwith scoring late in
the game to draw the tie 2-2

U9's Match report 4/10/08

Tockwith 1 - Scotton 2
Another exciting match saw Scotton Scorchers beat Tockwith (away) by two
goals to one. Tockwith started brightly and scored an early goal
to end the half one-nil up. Scotton created a number of good chances
in the first half but couldn’t find the net. The second half saw the
introduction of Jamie Foster to the attack, who made an immediate
impression with an excellently taken equalising goal. Tockwith pressed
back and almost regained the lead with some excellent snap shots, only
to be denied by the Scotton goalkeeper Daniel Haase. Scotton continued
to look for the winning goal, which eventually came from Alex Shaw who
broke through midfield to slot his shot past the advancing Tockwith
keeper. Well done Scotton!

U11 Match report 4/10/08

The Under 11's took on a very strong Wetherby side and came away with a very reputable 2-2 draw. A brilliantly taken free kick by Dominic Tear opened the scoring for Scotton but this was cancelled out by an equalising goal 10 minutes later. Wetherby took the lead on the stroke of half time with an unfortunate own goal.
The second half was very competitive with both sides going close. Scotton equalised with 5 minutes to go when Oliver Hunter scored with a low shot after a through ball from Dominic Tear. Another fantastic display from the boys who are playing against boys a year older than themselves.
The Scotton team: Jake Jones, Oliver Hunter, Harry Newsome, Giovanni Passerello, Jake Hargreaves, George Dooley, Dominic Tear and William Jackson.

Match reports Saturday 20th September 2008

Scotton Scorchers Under 11's v Harrogate Railway
A very strong Scotton Scorchers U 11’s side beat Harrogate Railway 4 - 1 in a very entertaining game in the Harrogate friendly league. Goals from Josh Carter (2), Giovanni Passerello and William Jackson together with excellent performances from Dominic Tear, Oliver Hunter, Jake Jones and Ben Lockwood made the man of the match choice impossible. The following friendly match ended in a 3-0 win for Scotton with goals from Dominic Tear, William Jackson and Ben Lockwood.

Scotton Scorchers under 11's v Hampsthwhaite in the Village friendly league
First 10 mins the match was even both sides having chances. After 13 mins a Hampsthwaite winger on the left crossed the ball into the box and the ball was bundled into the net past Charlie Wetheral.

Soon after 16 min they scored again, this time from the right hand side. The ball was cut back and finished well into the top left corner.
After substitutes on both sides, Scotton came out with purpose, meeting every tackle with force and eventually broke with Charlie Phillips only to shoot wide. Scotton’s defence played well as a unit. Bill Webster in particular had a great game stopping several attacks. On the 25 min Hampsthwaite drove through the centre and had a shot saved by Charlie but was slotted home on the rebound by a Hampsthwaite forward.
Scotton were undeterred by the score line and came back with a well taken goal by Robbie Granger after a neat passing move from George Dooley and Charlie Phillips.
On the 36 mins Hampsthwaite wrapped up the match with a fierce shot past the on looking goal keeper.
Result Scotton Scorchers 1 Hampsthwaite 4
Man of the match Bill Webster
Referee Mike Baker

An exciting start to the season saw Scotton Scorchers Under 9's narrowly beaten
by Hampsthwaite in a tightly faught, end-to-end match. Scotton created the
better chances but couldn't capitalise on their dominance. An
excellent, individual goal from Hampsthwaite was sufficient to win the match in
the first half.

Scotton U7's also found things tough against a skillfull and strong H&B
team. Going behind early and never recovering, the Scorchers, despite
sharing the seond half, lost the first game 0-7. With a lot of changes
throughout the matches, the boys couldn't find a rythmn in the second
match either. One of the few chances they had was for Joseph Navier on
a break away, but it was smothered by the Hampsthwaite keeper. H&B went
straight back down the other end and with sustained pressure scored a
couple more, with the final second match score 0-4. There are things to
work on in training, but everyone enjoyed themselves in the sunshine,
and bright spots were the man-of-the-match performances from Jack
Armitage and Sam Arditto.

Scorchers U7's also sported their new kit this season, supplied by Nidd
Recruitment. Jim Sherwin, this year sharing U7s coaching duties, is
Managing Director of Nidd Recruitment, who have also have offices in
Northallerton and Leeds.
