U14's Ilkley V Scorchers

The Scorchers created more chances in this game than any other league game to date, with Emily hitting a shot across goal, Shannon, and Abbie having shots saved, shots saved on the line by defenders and shots going narrowly wide from Kayleigh. In the end the girls got the goal they deserved with Kayleigh scoring a great individual goal, leaving the defence standing as she broke through with blistering pace to smash home her third of the season. Olivia, Philippa and Rebecca found they had their hands full from the start as Ilkley poured players forward pounding the Scorchers goal. Kayleigh who played the first half in goal made a number of excellent saves, but between them they couldnt keep Ilkley at bay. In the second half Hayley stepped back in to defence and with Daisy back in goal kept the goals against to just one. In form striker Melissa worked tirelessly up front but couldnt quite get on the end of any real opportunities but made some great runs to open up chances for others. Kayleigh got player of the day for an all action performance and a great goal. Scorchers lost the first half but drew the second, one goal all!!!!!!

The U14's will be training early this coming Saturday commencing at 09.45am, at the Cricket Club see you there!!

U12 SCORCHERS 3 V Trojans 4

Another fantastic game of football was played out today at the cricket pitch in scotton between two great teams.Unfortunately for scotton it ended in defeat but every one of the players can hold their head up high,as they all put huge performances in.
Riah claimed player of the match for a fantastic performance in goal(thanks to colin for those extra sessions!)although any one of the girls could have received it on today's performances.
Playing down the slope in the first half the girls put all their training into practice and were passing the ball around very well but soon went behind to a sucker punch from the trojan team.
Heads didn't go down though and they pressed forward and soon they had forced an own goal to put the scores level. The rest of the half saw some fine football played by both teams and after one mazy run and rocket of a shot georgia was unlucky to hit the post. We had a debut from sophie grant who fitted in really well and had a fine game with some great tackling and intelligent passing. So all level at half time.
Coming up the slope against a well drilled and fit team such as burley lesser teams would have crumbled but oh no not this scorchers team, again they took the game to burley with wave after wave of attacks. Georgia ended up with two goals for her tremendous efforts, in what i would put down as her best match this season.(Keep up the good work), she was well supported by georgia and molly. The defence played their part again against a fantastic (& Nippy!) striker. Hannah snuffed out attack after attack whilst ellie marshalled things really well and rebecca s got up and down the wings well.Sine and emma were awesome when called upon to help their team in their cause.Unfortunately the team picked up a few injuries and we had to juggle things around a bit and in the end we went down 4-3,but lets not be down because today we saw great improvements in the team and I believe as a team we can only get better. Bring on old mods in two weeks!
Hope all the injuries clear up soon and look forward to seeing all the girls back at training next saturday.
So here's looking forward
Andy.

U11 Girls Win Again

The U11’s followed up their win against Knaresborough in the cup with a 6 – 1 league win over Ilkley on Saturday. Ilkley are a new team in the league this year and were welcomed to the cricket pitch for the first time. They ran into a Scotton team that has found a rich goal scoring streak, with Chloe scoring her second hat-trick in a row.

The pitch was very wet which made playing conditions very tough and for the first few minutes both sides struggled to take control. However, Scotton soon won a series of corners in a good period of pressure and Maddy managed to get on the end of a superb cross by Ella to put Scotton one up. Ella then quickly made it two when she hit a great shot from inside the area past the keeper.

Ilkley did not let their heads drop however and continued to push forward. They found Molly and Emma in fine form and Emma in particular found the conditions to her liking as she continually won the ball and played it out of defence with some great touches and passing.
Scotton continued to create chances however and Chloe made the last one before half time count to give Scotton a deserved 3-0 lead at the break.

At half time Emily replaced the hard working Ella and Georgina replaced Molly who had put in her usual solid performance in the defence.

The defence was called into action early in the second half and was eventually breached when Ilkley pulled a goal back despite the best efforts of Courtney who otherwise had a very solid game in goal, making some great saves and getting very muddy in the process!

The goal gave Ilkley some renewed hope and only a superb goal line tackle by Emma and some good tackling by Georgina held Ilkley at bay. However Scotton soon regained their confidence and following another good passing move in midfield Chloe took control of a loose ball and put it past the keeper to restore the three goal lead. Chloe then set up Emily for the fifth, Emily showing that the recent shooting practice was paying off as she nearly bust the net with her shot! Chloe then completed the scoring, and her hat-trick, to make it a very well earned 6-1 win.

Emma picked up the Man of the Match award for her solid performance in defence with Chloe taking great pleasure in her second hat-trick of the season.

The friendly saw Leah make her first appearance for Scotton in a game where Scotton managed to win 3-0.

Both games were played in a very positive fashion and Ilkley were very welcome visitors to Scotton and played their full part in a very entertaining game.

Brilliant win for U. 10's

Saturday saw a fantasticwin for the U.10 girls against Ripon City. The girls performed strongly in the first half and our greater experience showed in wave after wave of attacks in which Victoria, Saffy and Ella all came close to scoring, but we couldn't quite find the back of the net. In the second half we again had the better of the game and scored a well deserved goal through Jess. After that Ripon put together some strong attacks but good defending from Olivia and Charlotte kept them out as well as two excellent saves from Lizzie. A fabulous win well done girls.
In the second match the girls continued the excellent passing and attacked continuously but weren't able to get that elusive goal. Sophie and player of the day Elizabeth worked their socks off in midfield while Rose and Amelia passed and dribbled really well. Molly and Charlotte never looked in trouble at the back and Ripon barely had a shot. Holly and Izzy made inpressive debuts but still that goal eluded us and the game finished 0-0.
A brilliant day well played girls!
The schedule for the next few weeks is as follows
Nov 8 and 15 Practice 9.45 at the cricket club
Nov 22 Match Away at Stamford Bridge
Nov 29 Match Home to Poppleton
Cheers Eddie

Scorchers come off the tracks against Railway!!

This friendly match had some fantastic football from both teams, with Railway running out comfortable winners in the end but again maybe the scoreline didnt quite reflect some great play from the Scorchers. Scorchers started the stronger but found themselves one nil down, however they were quick to get back in the game after strong running from Rosie set up Melissa who blasted a low drive past the keeper in to the net, topping a fine performance with girl of the game for the Scorchers goal. Daisy pulled off a number of good saves and was well supported with Philippa and Olivia who played well in defence. Imogen again ran herself in to the ground unlucky not to score on three occasions, her best chance coming off both posts!! Emily worked hard up front setting Melissa up with a number of good chances, before playing the second half in defence, where she made some brilliant attacking runs, being unlucky not to score. In the second half the first goal was crucial and Railway got it, putting the game out of reach, however the Scorchers didnt give in with Kayleigh hitting the bar, Shannon making some great runs and getting in shots at goal too. Rebecca played at left back making a number of vital interceptions. The game was played in fine spirit by both teams and well refereed by Roy who stepped in at the last minute.

Next week the 8th is coaching at the Cricket Club at 10.30 (Percy Fields is not available as mentioned) The 15th then sees us take on Ilkley at Ilkley (9 aside) details to follow.
